WE WORK WITH
For the past two years, we have been closely collaborating with the design studio ID wad, working together on multiple projects. This apartment project is also a product of our collaboration and is currently in the process of being implemented.
PARIS
Address: Paris 1st arrondissement
Date of project implementation: 2023
Project Area: 150 sq. m
Our mission: From ideation to implementation, this project exemplifies a comprehensive approach. We developed the design concept, prepared all administrative documents, conducted a tender, and currently oversee the project's implementation as part of our authorship supervision.
ABOUT
The appartment that my team and I are working on in collaboration with the ID-wad agency. It has a lot of special features that make it so interesting! First of all, the location of this flat is extraordinary, as it is on the banks of the Seine and offers a magnificent view of Paris! The flat will accommodate a family with two children, which means that the space will need to be not only functional and comfortable, but also safe for them. This is a historic building, so we wanted to preserve as much of the flat's character and identity as possible. Rather than trying to rewrite the flat's history, we used it as the main base and built around it to add a modern touch that blends in very well with its old and historic character.
LOCATION
The project is located in the heart of Paris, directly facing the Seine River, offering stunning views from the windows.
ADMINISTRATIVE PHASE
An important stage of this project was the preparation of all administrative documents for window replacement and the opening of load-bearing walls. Everything was done in accordance with the law, and the opening of the load-bearing wall was separately calculated by engineers.
PLANS
We have developed a complete package of documents that includes all necessary plans for implementation. Each plan is accompanied by a table detailing the quantity of all materials and products required.
As the mouldings on the ceilings in each room were different, it was impossible to remove the walls in order to open up the kitchen to the living room while retaining the existing mouldings.
We therefore selected the main moulding and had to remove the others before knocking down the walls. The plan for the future is to make moulds of the main moulding, which has now been preserved, in order to create identical mouldings on the ceilings of the hall and kitchen.
DESIGN
ENTRANCE AREA/KITCHEN/LIVING ROOM
In this apartment, we followed the principle of symmetry, which permeates both the living room and the kitchen. We had to remove the beautiful historic fireplace to install a large corner kitchen with an island. The fireplace will be replaced by a hood, which will be the focal point of the kitchen composition.
It was important for us that the kitchen not be just a massive volume with lots of cabinets, but rather sufficiently harmonious and discreet so as not to clutter the space, while still being functional.
